I think it should have been phrased "This blue colour is..." or something similar, but even then it is still retarded.

Too lazy to use my scanner
I had to send a friend a copy of an invitation I had to a party we both were invited to (the girl organizing it didn't have enough copies) but I don't have a scanner on this computer and my computer with a scanner is really slow. Luckily, I remembered a solution :D
And of course, the real WTF is the idea of a karaoke costume party in the first place.

RE: Myspace error
MySpace really should just be called WTFSpace, almost every time I use it (occationally) I get errors with no explanation. One part that really annoyed me was when I accidentally typed in my old password, and rather than just say "Invalid email or password" or something, it said "You must be logged in to do that." Or rather, "You Must Be Logged-In to do That! <font size="2">MySpace is FREE, But You Must Be a Member to Use That Feature</font>."
If WTFSpace.com wasn't already registered (by domain squatters), I'd buy it, and re-write the whole MySpace system in php or something, just to prove its less WTF than MySpace already is. Then again, no I wouldn't, I'm lazy.

However, even in sections of non-cfoutput tags, the whitespace is still
output, so if you have all of your script at the top of a page, then
you view the page on a browser and view the source, you end up with miles of
whitespace before you arrive at any html. That explains a lot, always wondered why that used to seem to happen every now and then on myspace when I checked the html source for whatever reason.

Waste of time. EVERYBODY hates coldfusion. I stumble upon a cfm page once every two thousand years.
MySpace seems to use it, *shudder*, just another reason to hate MySpace

RE: What are the limits on avatars and such?
I just used pretty much the same as the default avatar, but you could always resize what pic you want to about 80x80 and see if it works.

RE: Thanks, Alex!
The whole countdown script is just one huge WTF. Its gotten worse since I pointed it out here, the "now = new Date(now.valueOf() + 850);" bit kinda seems odd to me and I think something strange got put in around the due-hour to account for time differences.

All right, pop quiz hot shots. Airport. Gunman with one hostage. He's using her for cover; he's almost to a plane. You're a hundred feet away.
Which advice did you take? Are you still there?
I'm the one asking the question here mister...
But since you asked so nicely I would have:
1. Get my laptop and write some code on ActionScript (yes flash is cool) to calculate how many meters are a 100 feet. I only have ten fingers and that's as far as I can count.
2. Do some googling to find out what kind of gun I have and learn how to shoot it.
3. Post in a forum to get experts opinions.
4. (I'lll have to wait for an answer in the forum to see what to do on this step, why did you think I posted here then?).
You should steal the gunman's underpants, that is step 4.
Step 6 is PROFIT!

Paul the OMGWTFBBQ
After making this post I was inspired to get artistic. This led me to draw a character I decided to call Paul after the brillant Java programmer, Paula. My drawing is usually about as bad as my C++ but I think I did an alright job on this.
He will be greeting users in my OMGWTF entry

RE: Windows Live Newsletter
Its clearly talking about "i'm" which is where MS donate money for using one of the emoticons that look like the word "i'm". Try "*one" in WLM.

RE: Firefox VideoDownloader
I didn't at the time, I canceled that since it didn't appear to be doing anything, then when I went to use it properly it just came up with "Connecting to youtube.com..." or whatever it says without the download window ever coming up. I don't know if that second screwing up is a youtube problem or a Firefox problem but I suspect the later since I have since downloaded it fine in Opera.
Interestingly enough, VideoDownloader gives http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id=gNqiSkd1M6k&t=OEgsToPDskJK3hApP5UYqmr56vaxCQ3l&sk=y6uaBQDsCwpxDB64juPIhQR instead of http://youtube.com/get_video?video_id=gNqiSkd1M6k&t=OEgsToPDskJbPZkCJIKljr7Gp9jDI2Mu&sk=y6uaBQDsCwpxDB64juPIhQR when used in ietab, which has a lot of similar characters.
-
Firefox VideoDownloader
I'm pretty sure this has to do with me accidentally using VideoDownloader at the same time as IEtab (not sure why that would affect it, might be a coincidence), but I found the result amusing. This was the video was trying to download by the way.

And my personal favourite:
All in my camera's really-high resolution so most of the text is still readable XD

RE: This woman just makes me SICK
I just saw this in today's slashdot news, I don't think this woman really has a case, as the whole thing is based around lack of understanding of how computers work. She seems to think archive.org works manually with someone sitting there reading everything that is crawled. This is why internet should require a licence, so morons like this don't get to use it.

2749 cents for a gallon of gas? GOOOD LOOOOOORD that's a lot of money. That has the number 9 much smaller than the other numbers, obviously implying that it means .9
The OP specified that there was no such common method of identification on the sign he saw.

RE: The state of the TDWTF main page comments
I think the beauty of this site is that article comments are rarely made by registered users, especially the most insightful comments.
I personally rarely ever log in when I comment, since I'm a big fan of Anonymous or Semi-Anonymous communication. A lot of points in http://wakaba.c3.cx/shii/shiichan apply to
TheDailyWTFWorse than Failure as well, since it seems to promote the quick-comment-while-at-work kind of scenario.

Fortunately Javascript can be turned off in just about every major browser (and re-enabled per-site), which apart from adblock or similar is probably the only way to kill those things (since it's probably inframe JS+CSS+IMG magic, it's not technically a "popup").
It isn't even that, its one step away from just being an html table:
<div class="box1">
<img src="/images/20041208a/buttons.gif" alt="Computer buttons" width="350" height="24">....

RE: Fixing USB configuration 101
If Linux somehow messed up your USB ports (which I doubt), you should get them to reset by unplugging your computer and pressing the power button (to discharge everything). I've only seen this happen with network cards though - and only when hibernating Windows and then going to Linux.
Hmmm, that must be why a sudden power outage fixed it
BTW, if your motherboard is Asrock, it might be that your USB ports are dying - I've seen that happen on 2 Asrock boards lately, and there were some reports about it in a few forums I attend.
I should check it, I had to replace it only a little while ago because of BIOS problems. If I lost the USB ports on that computer, I'd probably have to replace it because it is really out of date now and I use USB a lot.

RE: Now you can store your data on paper!

Actually, good paper with good ink stored in the right environment will last longer than any other medium, short of chiseled stone.

Perhaps a stone chiseling drive will be the next innovation, though I see problems installing one in a laptop

Fixing USB configuration 101
I had to share this gem that I wrote for my blog, I still can't believe it.
A few weeks ago I tried to get into this Lunix thing, as any nerd needs at least a +2 Lunix Skillz, which basically consists of being able to chat on IRC and copy/pasting text. So I downloaded Damn Small Linux and burnt it to a CD.
I popped it in the drive and rebooted... several times, since the boot menu went too fast for me to press the 'edit BIOS' button in time. Eventually I set it to boot from CD first and got DSL working. It all went well and I spent a day being a Lunix nerd.
It was coming back to Windows XP when the real (copy/pasting aside) problems started.
The first problem was that for whatever reason it wouldn't boot up until I set the BIOS back to how it was, but I only found the second, more serious, problem a week or two later. DSL had changed the USB configuration and hadn't put it back.
When my printer stopped working and my flash drive wouldn't connect, I knew there was a problem, and there was only one major change since the hundreds of other times I'd used these devices.
When I talked to Patrick about the problem, he suggested doing a System Restore, as that should fix it right up... pity I turned that feature off to save a bit of space.
I had no idea how to fix it aside from reinstalling Windows, until today when my mother (who is completely computer illiterate) had somehow got the printer working. My USB drive worked too, it was a miracle. But the question was, how did she do it?
There was a power failure yesterday while the computer was on.
WTF?
