Someday I will watch a movie where the director read "How Suspension Bridges Work For Dummies". Because damn, Hollywood, you guys ain't know how anything works.
-
What happened?
-
Yeah, don't keep us in suspense.

I meant the bridge thing.
So it was good? I was a little worried it might be bad and a bad Godzilla movie would derail Bryan Cranston's career.

It is a pretty solid Godzilla movie!
Oh and the bridge thing: Muto breaks one of the big cables of the Golden Gate, and the bridge roadway stays 100% level. So I guess maybe it's science fiction and they installed anti-gravity disks or something.

You have to give them some credit. At least they had a bridge. I mean, it's not like any computers can model collapsing bridges graphically.

I have been wanting to see the new Godzilla movie. is it any good?

What montage? The one where you hotlinked to a bunch of dead servers?
-
@Tsaukpaetra Oh. I broke my own montage.
But I'm still going to blame Ben L.

Serves you right for hotlinking.
Why even have a "upload picture" feature if nobody's going to use it!
Filed under: Looking at you, imgur junkies!
-
@Tsaukpaetra We didn't 2 years ago.

I fail to see how a problem you had years ago should affect us in the present.

Only assholes hotlink to images, you sociopath.
-
@blakeyrat When Raymond Chen gets his time machine, you can[1] go back and replace all your hotlinks with reuploads to imgur.
[1] blah blah not advice etc

@FrostCat if time machines were to be invented, we would have future visitors in some important historical events at least.
past is read-only in the best case

I hear that said a lot, so here's my uninvited thoughts:
- Future visitors may have disguised themselves, making them indistinguishable from people "naturally" present at a certain moment in time.
- Time machines may require some mechanism present at their destination making it impossible to travel back further than the moment they've been built.
- Time machines may not allow you to jump to whatever point in time you want, much like a subway train only allows you to travel to a few fixed stations (bear with me). It's possible visitors from the future can only visit moments in time no one cares about.
- Time machines may be so immensely expensive or risky to operate, no one bothers. In particular: Earth moves; future visitors may not want to risk ending up in deep space, buried in lava or stuck on a wall.
I'm not quite contradicting what you said, mind you.

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Infinity is huge, but bigger.
