Uhh, gee, thanks Dr. Dobbs.
(Received Today, August 16th).

Uhh, is it just me or is the "@cmp.nl00.net" e-mail address fishy?
I think it was a scam, Alex.

I got this, too. It's basically the same as the renewal notices I get from them, so it appears legit, but the expiration date made me double-take.

So, they must have been the <FONT face=Tahoma size=2>"Best Developer Magazine 2006" in 2006, 2005, 2004 and also the "Best Developer Magazine 2006" in 2003. Errr...</FONT><FONT face=Tahoma size=2>"Best Developer Magazine 2006" for the 4th consecutive year!</FONT>

nl00.net belongs to "NetLine Corporation", who describe themselves as
"the premier provider of online marketing and lead-generation
services". In other words, they're a slightly more respectable form of
spammer.
Respectable?!? Ha! Is that like saying a shoplifter is a slightly more respectable form of a thief?

Nonsense! You see, the poll in question, is run each year, and doesn't just vote on the publications of the current year, but previous years too. So it won "Best Developer Magazine 2006" in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. In 2010 they invented a way to send computer data back in time, so they sent said article back. 'course the writer wrote '4th' rather than '1st of 4' by
mistake, but hey - time travel's confusing!
I'm writing this in 2013. You know the sun's started going red giant? A lot sooner than was expected. It's a big problem. There's a global team figuring out how we can move the Earth further out. They'll do it - a buddy of mine in 2050 has mentionned, in his time Earth's in Jupiter's orbit, at the other side of the sun, of course. He says it was fun when they tried to get through the asteroid belt.

No, this is an error. It should read "Best Developer Magazine of the year" for the 4th consecutive 2006.

@ben_lubar well I don't think I meant https://what.thedailywtf.com/topic/1000//9, but I ended up there somehow, regardless.
