  • Re: Bug in FileSystemWatcher - .NET 2

Hi there GeneWitch. Thanks for your post. "i'm trying to think if there's third party stuff you could install on all the workstations that would be able to signal when they opened a file as read/write, created a new file, or deleted an existing one. This seems like it would be a better solution than...

  • Re: Bug in FileSystemWatcher - .NET 2

bmoneil, thank you very much for your post. You are right: i never configured filesystemwatcher's buffer size. And, actually, the behaviour of the error matchs that possible mistake: some guy drop files in the directory, FSW detects a few file operations, it stops detecting at some "random" point, and...

  • Re: "Could You Explain Programming Please"

Wow. Even after reading this site for a while I am still unable to convince myself that such incompetence can exist. "Teach yourself programming in 15 minutes" . Bleccchhh. At least he didn't ask you to send teh codez for Halo. There is a funny job ad in the sidebar: "Software, how hard can it be - it...

  • Bug in FileSystemWatcher - .NET 2

Hi all. Please excuse my english, as we speak spanish here. I have a problem with FileSystemWatcher. I had to monitor some directories, check for file changes... not big deal to figure out. I was about to build something using windows APIs, but my boss keeps on telling me to use NET and its controls...

  • Network admin gold

I've had a few interesting anecdotes about some of the network administrators i've had to deal with over the years and figured they were worthy of a sidebar post. As a programmer i find that your clients network admin can either be your greatest ally at the company or a complete pain in the ass. You...

  • Re: Every Day I see code and say WTF.

I've got a solution for your problem but I'm not sure if the law allows it: a straight punch on the nose for every fscked up line.

  • WTFCC - Because community college isn't always great value

I originally submitted this as a WTF, but it didn't get posted. I'm not really surprised - the thing is long, and meanders quite a bit. I've put it here, though, complete with a couple edits for length and readability. (edit: after I finished I realized I made it slightly longer. I am really really sorry...

  • Re: Phone Software WTF

Yeah, that stupid plug-and-play frenzy is just evil - and some people even advertise how intrusive their software is ("all you've got to do is run the CD..."). My worst experience was with a British ISP (an ISP! What's an ISP's business on my system?!) that rhymes with Yahoo. They would send us a modem...

  • Free! Only $900!

I was looking at notebooks on a certain manufacturer's website. While looking at all the options that you could get I noticed that you can get Microsoft OneNote free with a PC Purchase. However, there seems to be a rather lax definition of "free."
