• Re: Saying that Java is nice because it works on all OSes is like saying...

While that is recognizable, to be pedantic it certainly isn't the only one. There are a lot that look like function names in the rest of it "TrackPopupMenu", "SetCursor", "ShowWindow", etc.

update: I was able to get ahold of a real live person this time and give them enough identifying information to convince them that I owned the account so they'd read me my security question answer. Apparently I thought it'd...

Why do you think Phd is not good?
Experience. PhDs are almost always hired to give an air of "intelligence" to the company. Invariably, they have the practical knowledge of a wet paper bag.
Difference in context...

  • Re: This.... from a bank.... I'm.... WTF?!
I think the argument is that XORing results reduces the entropy of the overall process, essentially "averaging" the entropy of each part. Imagine I had two sources of randomness, one produces 0,1,2,3,0,1,2,3... And the other produces 0,1,0,1... XORing...

  • Re: Secure webmail
Anyway, seems like having email that's encrypted client-side and which doesn't need special software to use would be cool, but why store the key in the browser cache (I'm assuming they mean "cookie"..)? You'd be way better off having them...
Off-the-cuff, that sounds like it would substantially weaken the algo. Do you have a cite on how this works? It's probably just me being paranoid, but I'd like to see a crypto professional explain it.

Although...

As a pet peeve I really hate sites that impose a password maximum. A minimum is bad enough but understandable at least, but a maximum? What if I want to use an actual phrase/sentence as my password versus some wonky characters...
How is it possible to fuck up that badly?
More importantly, why is Mole's money in a bank that does this that badly?
I actually like online monopoly. Mostly because it's the only way to get a game together without having your friends tar and feather you afterward for being "too cheap" when you stack 5 hotels on Baltic and Mediterranean avenue. Plus, it's much more difficult...
