    What makes this for-if instance really special, though, is the wonderful way it makes no use of the names defined NetCDF file's names except for the specific purpose of looking up IDs it already has. It's the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation anti-pattern.

    Not only that, but if you pass it something that evaluates to false, it won't do anything but that conversion. This gives the coder the flexibility to re-use this code for a much wider range of tasks than that envisioned by the impoverished design it replaces. It's win-win!

    Could have been worse. The kind of nuff-nuff who would put find . in a crontab is probably just as likely to use find / next time. Hell, they're next to each other on the keyboard so they must mean nearly the same thing, amirite?

    As an aside, there's a side to the main site you didn't cite, which is that although the main site's main "Side Bar WTF" link links to this side's site, sited directly under that are side bar thread links, some of which link to threads on this side's site though others link to threads from the site on the other side.
