Iceberg, right ahead!
The Committee has determined that this iceberg is low-priority. Maintaining course.
After an emergency meeting, the Iceberg has been promoted to Priority 1. However at the last meeting, the ...

  • It's $0 but we can greatly lower that cost

Arrived in my inbox today: I currently show that you have a license of Size 1, the next license size would be Size 2. List price on that upgrade is $0 . With the pricing incentives for March, we can greatly lower that cost. You'll pay me to upgrade? And did your marketing guy pick the red font to make it seem urgent?

  • Re: Electrify that server!
Wow, just wow. What is your employer's purpose? Manufacturing new and interesting layers of WTF? It makes me think that every server room construction or refurb should include budget for constructing a small fake server room for people to tour. Blinkenlights, machines that go ping, maybe even some old tape ...

  • Re: Why don't people just read my mails?
Conclusion? Users don't read anything, ever, for any reason. Corollory - if you have some kind of money-making scheme or business that relies on users being able to read, or indeed find their arse using both hands, you are doomed to failure. 1. Make it simple ; 2. Make it even simpler ; 3. ??? ; 4. Profit?!! ...

  • Re: Quota Exceeded

TRWTF is under-funded schools. Poor IT seems to be a staple. I went to a sixth form where the computing teacher was against people using email. How else was I supposed to communicate with my friend who had left the sixth form for another college?
Schools generally ...

  • Re: An incident

- Yes? Great. (And walks away.) (The next day:) - How come you can't code a system that pass the tests? What kind of programmer are you and why should I keep paying your salary?
When dealing with someone that doesn't really listen to information you impart, ...

  • Re: Feedback

The only change I've seen is a couple of pizza parties for the office...
What puzzles me most about these things is how well they work on some employees. The attitude seems to be "Oh WOW! FREE PIZZA!", and a genuine opinion that the company is being ...

  • Re: Feedback
I've seen some shitty management feedback, but this is definitely the most blatant bias.
Our most recent survey had "What change has had the most value?" which rather naively assumes that a.) more than one change was going to happen, b.) those changes have actually occurred in the recent ...

  • Re: Lock the windows but open the door

As an example, my brother is a CPA. He has about 10 PCs in his office. He refused to move off of Win-98 until each PC physically died. He didn't care that once he started replacing individual PCs, there were incompatibilities, etc. He didn't care that some of the newer ...

  • Re: TRWTF is Charles Schwab: IP addresses used to verify physical address.
I do agree that this is a WTF, but I also think it's a pretty good idea to lock out access for non-US IPs (or at least Chinese and Russian IPs..) It could be a default that you could have lifted if you are a business traveler who, for some reason, does not have access to a VPN.
Since our corporate ...
