  • We've discussed this before. Vista was a really good OS with a really bad first-run experience.

    Filling the superfetch cache is an example of that, as is its slow-ass text indexer for search, and the fact that everybody got 40,000 UAC while installing software. (But then, once installed, you see maybe one UAC a week at most.)

    Added to that, the driver situation where tons of OEMs basically fired their own decent developers during the Windows 2000 - Windows XP lull in needing to write new drivers, only to hire interns after Vista came out to shit out barely competent drivers. I believe Creative was a huge culprit here.
