    Decorative barcodes?

I found this on a box at work we received:

My question is, if you aren't supposed to scan the barcode, what ARE you supposed to do?

(Sorry for the slightly blurry image)

    Type it in, of course.

Did you know that apparently lots of bar code readers are configured via.. yup! Bar codes. You could actually create "dangerous" bar codes using these configuration code and reconfigure the reader. DO NOT SCAN would actually give that a whole new level of urgency. Like a bio-hazard sign :)

Usually those are vendor labels that aren't supposed to be scanned by anyone else. The message is telling the shipping people to not scan it. You'd think that the carriers would know to scan only the barcode present on or near the address label, but that's not always the case.

However, if the label is intended for internal vendor use only, it would make more sense for them to use black-out labels in the shipping department. Some carriers require that to prevent confusion during automatic scanning.

Protip: The "wooden table" joke is only funny in certain contexts. Stick with posting relevant comments for now.

Just see if you can lure her into your van after she gets out of school.  I hear candy works quite well on the children.  Meanwhile, I'll stick with women who look older than 13.

As long as if you don't mind it being out of its wrapper. Don't mind the powder. It's just sugar.

In addition to some of those mentioned above . . . I've seen this type of warning to mean "do not inventory."
