This might be a dumb question ( I'm 'deeply embedded' rather than Enterprisey ), but is this the next stage of MS's plan to own the Universe ?

Oh, and fust ! (sorry, fist !) (Damn, I would've been if this forum software wasn't so slow)

Is this SSDS, by any chance, MS' answer to Oracle's Application Express?

let's just hope spectateswamp has bothered to register a trademark... this could be funnier than SCO's lawsuit.

I read through all the info on the site and finally figured out what this Sql Server Data Services system is...

Apparently, you copy everything out of your database into a single flat file, then use a simple VB app to search it.

    Brillant!

Linux is not a code base. Or a distro. Or a kernel. It's an attitude. And it's not about Open Source. It's about a bunch of people who still think vi is a good config UI.

There are three kinds of people: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who wonder what happened.

    Re: SSDS

As a MS SQL Techical Engineer (yeah sorry 'bout that :P), this is more MS's answer to the Amazon Elastic Computing Cloud combined with a sniff of Google Base, and probably a very promising one for company's that want to outsource there data storage to a 'trusted' company.
I know there are still Indians supporting the whole thing and even I woudn't call MS a trusted company, but at least it's less obvious untill you log your first ticket :-)
