My word, Spectate! How on earth were you able to post from the future? Incredible!
"Maybe just maybe the Aliens are trying to warn us about a future Nuclear disaster or It could be the Medicine Stones that brought about this display? A warning for all to see. Or it might just be a cloud. "

Unfortunately, due to the timezone difference between the UK and Alberta, it looked to Swampy like rc_pinchey (and Swampy's doppelganger) were posting 7 hours in the future (spooky!).

Don't worry, we will :) I've just had a brainwave. Your international overstruck dot idea could actually be extended. Simply generate different permutations of the overstruck characters. Combined with the fact that [2^321 > 68! > 2^320], we needn't be afraid about the tags running out or clashing.

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=56347 Ok guys read and laugh... Why should anyone make a single video containing parts of other videos mashing it all together when somone can plow through his 100s of videos and do it in their mind.
Oh I love points he makes. Gives me a good laugh. Also he mentions how people banned his posts from forums but hell keep flooding them with videos! Ah the ultimate in ignorance.

Spectate, I think you may have misinterpreted the meaning of "medicine" in "medicine stone". Medicine in this context usually refers to (magical) power, not pot. Pot makes you dumb, not powerful.
A random question - who designed those t-shirts? And how high were they at the time?

Not true. VB.NET is better than VB5. It just no longer supports some bad code practices. You should try starting with bstorer's VB.NET code, adding a few noodles, and jamming it. I'm sure you'll have it working in no time.
EDIT: I think the 2 weird tags are proof that the tag/autocomplete system is becoming sentient and complaining about how much we're abusing it.

Any normal person would just go buy a screwdriver and learn to use it. You, on the other hand, will sit there for weeks on end grinding the threads off the screws to turn them into nails, then complain when they fall apart while pounding on them.

Unfortunately, Spectate (allegedly) doesn't understand metaphors (although he loves weak puns), so he will likely respond with a completely irrelevant anecdote about how SSDS once helped him find his favourite lucky hammer that he left in his shed, buried under mounds of old T-shirts. He will go on to explain that his trapper ancestors didn't need screwdrivers, or screws, to live off the land, and that nobody needs a hammer when you have an hunting knife. And nobody needs a hunting knife when you have an axe. Furthermore, when you have the medicine stones, you don't need an axe, hammer. knife. education, or an ounce of common sense and decency.

Tenny Whitfield. He was my dope t-shirt drawer. No better at it than Tenny

BstorerSwamp is the greatest of the greatest. I sure like the code. It reads so easily. This will be a great help in my implementation of #2 and #3 programs of all time. I'm pumped. Good going swampies. P.S. I like my swampies weird. Far more interesting. Most most techies are weird.
Another real life story. Way way back. 1979. I was working for Rogers and Associates in SanFrancisco. My friend Peter Mc* had taken the whole group of Rogers Geeks sailing. I was busy that weekend and couldn't attend. They had the worst storm in the bay area in years. All kinds of sailing boats up on the rocks. The only one scared was Peter. The ruffer it got the bigger the smiles all round. So sad poor poor old SpectateSwamp doesn't get to visit his SF friends. Damn NetSquared cheats.

Spooky. Then an old memory of something completely irrelevant. (Before I saw his post, I was thinking another "pizza party" but the sailing topped that guess)

First of all, I thought you said spaghetti code was better than easy-to-read code, you lying hypocrite. Secondly, DO YOU REALIZE "BSTORERSWAMP" IS ONLY PORTING SSDS TO FURTHER DISCREDIT YOU AND YOUR WHACK IDEAS? He even said so himself.

That really isn't necessary, you dunce. There is really no need to prove you are the "real" SpactardSwamp. Everybody here and his grandma can tell the difference between the real and "HiJacked" posts, except you, apparently. Do they teach critical thinking skills in Grade 9? I could've sworn they did.

It was a bit too obvious. The two-word sentences were taken a bit far. Problem is that these fakeposts have prompted him to include more of those awful photos :( Oh well, I guess that gives us more to talk about on the website. You can't reply to them, the time/date will be wrong for everyone outside of a given timezone (I tweaked the time on mine so it would look "right" to Swampy.) Why do you think Swampy copied-and-pasted the time/date on rc_pinchey's fakepost and wrote "Spooky"? From Swampy's POV, the post was coming 7 hours from the future!

Getting better each time though...
CodeSimian:You can't reply to them
You can lob in a different URL on the reply button and reply to SOMETHING, though. I suppose, if anyone could be bothered, you could rig up a script on a page that you'd link to which would mimic the forum and content, allow the reply, then squirt the reply back into the real forum as a fake post response to another post from the script's account... but that's a lot of effort, for only minimal hilarity. CodeSimian:From Swampy's POV, the post was coming 7 hours from the future!
Oops! Duly noted. Dunno how to fake that- you'd have to display an appropriately-generated jpeg held on a server that would modify the image to represent the timezone of the IP accessing the url...
You know, given a week of sustained effort, I'm pretty sure it would be possible to make a fake post that was indistinguishable from the real thing (without changing the view or reading the source, at least!). I can't be arsed, though. ;-)

I don't think I'd make it across the border to the NetSquared $100,000 mashup. On my last US excursion I was turned back 3 times (pre 9/11). They needed some hotshot lawyer to do the deed. Comming back from the border each time was pretty funny. I did get 4 going away suppers.
How impressive will it be to have a full featured GUI SSDS running on .net. Everybody can grab a copy, customize it, improve it and be free to jam and jam their computers so much the room lights dim. Just like I'm doing with VB5. Sure hope VB5 is around for years to come.

I was actually too disgusted by the beard to notice that it was a fake post - I read it rather quickly, and thought it actually came from Swampy. Nicely done.
I'm also completely shocked that I got a quick and coherent reply to my question about t-shirts earlier. I actually thought the t-shirt artwork was pretty nicely done, and I was perplexed as to how Swampy could possibly have produced anything like that. Fortunately they were someone else's work, and I don't have to deal with Swampy being competent at something.

Yeah, cute animals and all. My obvious reaction was that Swampy quite possibly couldn't have done anything like that. He can't even draw a circle in MSPaint - it's got to be red and it's got to be free-hand and it's got to be around a video artefact or some other weird unexplainable detail. =)

SpectateSwamp:Don't worry Swampies I've got lots and lots of pictures.
...so does everyone else, Swampman, so does everyone else.
SpectateSwamp:One thing I know for sure. The demise of VB5 isn't a good thing. It's far easier to build desktop search on VB5 than VB.net. Too bad for the newbies
Eh... the way I understood it, the VB.NET port didn't really have any problems with your search portion, just your weird-butt display code. Also, what makes you think newbies want to start with VB5, which is, and has always been, a fully commercial product - compared to VB.NET, which also has a free version? Besides, the market is full of "newbie-friendly" languages; a lot of newbies I've seen have been very thrilled by scripting languages such as Python and Ruby, for example. And let's not forget JavaScript. In short, the market has evolved and Basic isn't the newbie language any more - far from it.

Also, the reply button doesn't even hover the correct cursor in 99% of the fake posts. Only the beard one did (although the Fav/etc buttons had the wrong hover still)- and then the post ID value (shows up in the status bar of the browser) was actually lower than the ID value of the next real post. Even if that was faked at a higher number, it won't be in proper sequence as its not inserting an actual post into the system. So please, since (A) anyone can post pictures too and (B) there are easier ways to spot faked posts - stop with the photos already!

SpectateSwamp: So sad poor poor old SpectateSwamp doesn't get to visit his SF friends. Damn NetSquared cheats.
You do realize if you so much as burped at customs, the drug dogs would drop dead, right?
I don't think I'd make it across the border to the NetSquared $100,000 mashup. On my last US excursion I was turned back 3 times (pre 9/11). They needed some hotshot lawyer to do the deed. Comming back from the border each time was pretty funny. I did get 4 going away suppers.
Did you ever think that maaaybe things wouldnt work against you so much if you... I dunno... weren't constantly high? Are you sure he feels it worked against him? Every time he was turned away for being high, his munchies were fully satisfied. TRWTF: Who makes four going away suppers? Wouldn't they figure out he's not going to make it? I guess the prospect of actually getting rid of Swampy was just too appealing to consider the most reasonable outcome.

SpectateSwamp:I don't think I'd make it across the border to the NetSquared $100,000 mashup. Then why did you say you were going to SF in the first place? http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/p/8159/153323.aspx#153323 SpectateSwamp:When I get to San Francisco for the Mashup Challenge. I'll look up some of my old haunts.
Why must you always lie, you lying liar?
SpectateSwamp:How impressive will it be to have a full featured GUI SSDS running on .net. Everybody can grab a copy, customize it, improve it and be free to jam and jam their computers so much the room lights dim. Just like I'm doing with VB5.
First of all, bstorer is just doing a direct port of SSDS. That means it will look and behave as close as possible to the original SSDS. So I'm not sure what you are trying to imply by saying "full featured GUI SSDS running on .net". As far as I know, bstorer is not going to add a GUI or add any features. And why would the MASSES want to customize, improve and jam SSDS? The masses are not geeky programmers, remember? It is your job to create something that people want to use. Stop trying to beg and bully people into doing your work for you!
SpectateSwamp:Sure hope VB5 is around for years to come.
VB5 was discontinued years ago, you mental cripple. So what exactly do you mean when you say "VB5 is around"? Microsoft will not support it, and you'll have a hard time finding it on store shelves. Maybe you'll still be able to find it in the bargain bin at the flea market. Or various nooks and crannies of the internet. On the other hand, anyone who already has a copy of VB5 can continue to use it, but you can say that about a lot of software, especially when you take emulators into account. So, yeah, if by saying "VB5 is around for years to come" you mean "people can use VB5 for years to come, assuming they'd want to", sure. I could also use my old Commodore 64 if I hadn't given it away to my relatives and if it hadn't been destroyed by their friends. (Damn kids!) Heck, VB5 will probably "be around" after you're gone. Thing is, nobody will want to use it, just like NOBODY WANTS TO USE SSDS. SSDS will be "around" the Internet for years to come, despite the ZERO users, if it makes you feel better.

VB5 worked great for SSDS and I'll make sure I keep a extra VB copy on other machines. Just in case I want to make a final change or 2. I'm not so sure it would be as easy to create with VB.net I could be wrong. But that would be a first. People whine and whine about the Search being bad and nogood. They are wrong and the source is out there now and will continue for some time. Because it kicks ass. Anybody's ass. Nobody has access to their video and computer data like Me and the Swampies do. With the defaults set. It's tapity tap tap tapity tap in and tapity tap to get out. If it's fast you will use it. If your are fast, you'll blow the rest away. SSDS is fast from startup to shutdown.
-- Anyway do you think those Aliens could be attracted by playing the video back to them. With hi-lites just to let them know the Swampies are watching. They are no longer undetectable to the human eye. That's IT the aliens were here to steal the source code. Sneaky thieving Flyers.

SpectateSwamp:I could be wrong. But that would be a first. Stop lying, liar. You already admitted you were wrong at least twice: (About not editing) http://www.daniweb.com/forums/post349543-11.html SpectateSwamp:I have yapped so much about not editing. That it came back to bite
me. That kind of stuff happens to people all the time.
(About all programming languages being equally easy, especially for you) http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/p/8159/161483.aspx#161483 SpectateSwamp: Geez VB.net isn't anything like VB5. This is the last programming
language I'm going to struggle with. Luckily there are lots of good
examples on the Internet. Things always seem to work this way. The more
I yap and yap the more it comes back to bite me.

What the fuck is your problem? Do you think people find this shit amusing? Do you enjoy making people angry? I think you were pissed when a couple of miscreants "hijacked" your username. How does it feel when someone else makes you angry? Maybe people would be nicer to you if you stopped acting like such a jackass all the time. If only you were capable of showing consideration for others, you soulless bastard. (If by some chance you are actually being serious, why the fuck would the aliens need to steal your source code? YOU ALREADY OPEN-SOURCED SSDS YOU IDIOT! YOU ARE GIVING AWAY THE SOURCE TO EVERYONE! THE ALIENS CAN JUST GRAB THE SOURCE OFF THE INTERNET.)

I'm trying to convince myself that CodeSimian has somehow perfected the art of fakeposting, but I keep coming to the conclusion that Swampie really is this stupid.
