Space Jam and Tiny Toons are responsible for something like 90% of modern furries.

Do you also like dressing up in a fur suit and yiffing?

My brother is a borderline furry and I recently had the misfortune of reclaiming the room he left at my parent's house (he moved out suddenly saying "I have no property" and left enough crap in that room that I filled a 26ft moving van with it.)

Among the items reclaimed was a huge stack of Sonic the Hedgehog comic books, and an external hard drive with every episode of the Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon - stored right next to the furry porn.

Yes, I almost nuked it from orbit but decided that nuking it from Disk Management was far more productive because, hey, free external hard drive.

I must make a note here. Most furries dont dress up in fursuits. Nor is it particularly *comfortable* to be in one. Hell I wouldnt even DANCE in one. I know several suiters, and all of them will tell you that its pretty damn uncomfortable (but fun, none the less), and they're expensive enough (on the order of $800-2k, depending on the tailor and the amount of detail, or if you're willing to pull up some fabric and start *sewing*) that the possibility of damage from something particularly... smutty is right out.. I do not own a fursuit, However I'm still a furry. Does it mean I have a drive filled with smut? No. I dont in fact. Are there? very much yes.

it is a simple sad fact that some of the people in this world are just brain-fucked. I know a few furverts. Some are generally Good People. Others, well, are best left to their own devices.

So, TRWTF here is the Inherent lack of any form of actual learning about a group before someone decides to turn them into flamebait

The fact that within related fandoms there is no distinction spells out more. Considering that within the SF fandom I can see more people gawk over scantly clad (insert-kind-of-fantasy-char-here)than I see furries gawking at pr0nz, I'd say there's libraries to be stated. Oh, and that there's a firm distinction within the furry fandom versus the "oh its at the back, go stare at it" of the SF fandom. (</rant>)

How is it that people like you can so fundamentally misunderstand the problem?  Nobody is complaining about people thinking Princess Leia in a bikini is hot, because that's normal human behavior.  Being a furry is not.  It's fucked up.  Are you actually trying to say that being an asexual furrie is more laudable than being a normal, functioning SF fan?  I'm not even defending SF fans, they're usually kind of pathetic and fucked up in their own right, but at least they're attracted to humans.

The first two are human, for all intents and purposes.  I've never heard of "cthuloids", but I can probably guess what they are, in which case being attracted to them is equally as fucked up as being a furrie.  I don't know what the hell the last one is, nor do I care.

Yah, but those character are human. Or put a slightly different way: The gawkee is the SAME SPECIES as the gawker.

And fantasy books are even worse, since they're usually a race who's only distinguishing characteristic from human is "has super-powers and is hot". So there are guys attracted to women who are (by definition) hot and have superpowers? I see nothing wrong with that.

Note that there's a whole lot of confusing shit in the continuum, but the acceptable range ends long before you hit this:

(Notes: 1) Hotlinked, I'm not putting that shit on my web servers, 2) FIRST BING RESULT for "furry vixen" Several on the first page are NSFW.)

Look, all furries are people who want to be animals. Most furries want to fuck animals that look like humans. A lot of furries want to fuck stuffed animals. A lot of furries want to fuck normal animals. A minority of furries want to crawl up into a womb and be re-birthed.

I can accept the first group-- it's weird, but it seems harmless enough, and I'd wager some of those people have normal relationships. The second group and everything past? No.

    blakeyrat:

Look, all furries are people who want to be animals.

False. Most furries have no more then a interest in the artwork/stories/fursuiting whatever. That's like saying that all Batman fans want to commit acts of vigilantism. It's not true.

    blakeyrat:

Most furries want to fuck animals that look like humans.

Again, a total overstatement. Again, you're letting the minority fetish people take priority. This is like saying that all anime/manga fans want tentacle monsters to rape them. It's not true.

    blakeyrat:

A lot of furries want to fuck stuffed animals. A lot of furries want to fuck normal animals.

Again, you're overstating things. Plusophillia is rather uncommon in furry. As a stuffed animal collector myself, I would be terrified to let that happen to one of my plushies. When it does happen, it's just a fetish. I find foot fetishes weird, yet I don't go online attacking people who are into that sort of thing.

As for the fucking of real animals, you'd think that furries would actually care more for animal rights then most people and realize that would basically ammount to rape? Like what happens with most furries in real life. You can learn as much about furries from the likes of CSI as you can learn about actual criminology.

    blakeyrat:

A minority of furries want to crawl up into a womb and be re-birthed.

Surprise, surprise, a minority of non-furries want to do this too. Just because a portion of furries have a fetish does not make that fetish furry-exclusive.

    blakeyrat:

I can accept the first group-- it's weird, but it seems harmless enough, and I'd wager some of those people have normal relationships. The second group and everything past? No.

Well then, if "people who want to be animals" is as far as you'll go, then it seems you'll get along with the majority of furries then.

Look, I don't know what the hell furries even consider themselves to be anymore.  If it's not someone who wants to be animal and possibly fuck anthropomorphic animals, what the hell does it mean?  I'm pretty sure a sane person who just thinks animals are cool wouldn't self-identify as a furrie.  And if you want to be an manimal or fuck manimals, you are a bit nuts.  Probably harmless, but still out there.

Whoa, you scared me for a sec!  I thought pstorer had come close to beating me, but nope: he only has 3110 posts, it says so right there.  Thank God, crisis averted!

Pointing out that other people are more fucked up doesn't get you off the hook at all.  If anything, you've just demonstrated that you hang in some sad, sad crowds.

That doesn't mean anything, except that I have a lot of free time at work and you guys aren't pulling enough of your weight around here.

however this shows a condition of the human mind...

Yes, but not in the way you think it does.

Probably harmless, but still out there.

think of it like a gaming clan: They like the same art. Some go a way past it but the mean is pretty much set on "We like the art. And maybe some of the odder aspects of the culture"

The point was, since the common opinion is that furries are perverted freaks, the only people who self-identify as furries are the perverted freaks. People who simply like funny talking animals might visit furry websites, but they're not going to stand up in church and loudly proclaim furriness.
