    Search WTF

What's going on with the Windows XP builtin search function?? On the left it claims to have found 23 files, while it says on the right that no files were found. It should be noted that while searching, the list on the right actually contained entries...

    Re: Search WTF

Actually, for a long time I've been thrilled by the idea of somehow replacing the dog with an animated model of The Stupidest Man On Earth. I'd take him out for a walk behind the shed ... with a shotgun. It is obvious that the integrated Search finds about as much as SSDS...

Is your Explorer configured to show hidden files?

Yes it is. Also, as I said before, the list contained entries while the search was still going on. Only after I wanted to view the results after the search was done, the list was empty. Maybe someone at Microsoft was jamming it too much - too many noodles, you know? Should have used SSDS in the first place...

If files are deleted they're removed from the list but the result count isn't updated. Were they there when you searched again?

I did not delete the files. They're not in the trash. Yes, when I search again, the files are there (shown while searching - gone when search is done).

Nothing personal, we just ask for more creativity in our trolling.  Do you have a fetish for stones, by any chance?

What version of XP is it? It's the "Media Center Edition" skin, but that is available seperately. Do you have a virus? It could be a virus.

TRWTF is that you even left the ad link in the image.

It's XP SP2 Pro (Royale theme). As I am on my company's network with lots of anti virus/firewall stuff etc., I don't suspect it to be a virus. However, I can reproduce this "functionality".

Yeah, this is really a WTF. To be honest, I didn't even look at the HTML code I was pasting and I didn't realize until now that there are two (in fact three) separate images. When I previewed the page I thought they had manipulated the original image (why else would the link look so "strange" as compared to the rest of the text?). This leads us to the Real Real WTF: Why would you insert the ad-text as an image instead of plain text??

So you can track impressions, change it on-demand, and not have it be so blatantly obvious.

Especially when the advertized agency is the spam farm known as Atomic Rewards, or their face QuizRocket. As soon as I can find an attorney, I'll be collecting a few hundred thousand dollars from them, at $11/message.

Regarding QuizRocket / Atomic Rewards, I wish to inform all interested that they are both fronts for the REAL spam farm - PangeaMedia.com

I suppose if your machine has the hardware requirements of one from a decade ago, the dog could present issues for you and would be worth the time to turn it off...
